Real Life Up House

On Saturday March 5th, National Geographic gathered a team of scientists, engineers and two balloon pilots to create and launch a balloon propelled house like the one in Up. The 18′ tall, 16′ by 16′ house was carried by 300 8′ weather balloons from an airfield near Los Angeles. Over the course of its one hour flight, the house and balloons reached an altitude of over 10,000 feet. The whole experiment was filmed for an upcoming  National Geographic Channel show called How Hard Can it Be?. The episode is scheduled to air sometime in the fall. For more photos of the house go to the My Modern Met blog.
