LCD Soundsystem, “North American Scum” (Final Performance)

LCD Soundsystem is dead. Long live LCD Soundsystem! On Saturday night, LCD Soundsystem performed their final concert. The farewell show happened at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden and lasted for nearly four hours. The band through often emotional performances of most of their major songs and their largely experimental piece 45:33. The biggest surprise of the night came in the form of a guest appearance by Will, Win and Regine Butler of the Arcade Fire. LCD Soundsystem and Arcade Fire toured together several years ago, so it was fitting to see the Butlers perform at this last show.

After a bit of joking around, including Win Butler yelling at LCD leader James Murphy to “Shut up and play the hits,” the combined group of musicians performed a full freak out version of the LCD classic “North American Scum.”
