The Giant Etch A Sketch

Last December, the Manchester based organization of artists, engineers and hackers known as HAC:Manchester were invited to create an exhibit for the Madlab Playhouse. On a whim, they created a giant Etch-A-Sketch for the exhibit. The giant toy is fully functional and uses higher tech than the classic Etch-A-Sketch. The dials are connected to an arduino controller to control the on screen line, and the on screen image is created using a rear projector, leading to the lawsuit-safe “Project=A=Sketch” name. And how do you erase the image when you’re done? As with a classic Etch-A-Sketch, you just give it a good shake.

For more information on how they built this thing, visit the HAC:Manchester website.
