Aretha Franklin and Sammy Davis Jr “Soul Medly”

It’s always fun to come across a collaboration between musical legends. Take for instance Prince, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty covering the Beatles or the recently unearthed Freddie Mercury/Michael Jackson duets. There’s usually a bit of a “wow” factor attached to hearing musicians you wouldn’t expect to collaborate creating something together. So, to this end I was pretty excited when I came across this television performance from Aretha Franklin and Sammy Davis Jr. In this clip from 1968, Sammy asks Aretha to give him a lesson in soul which leads in to a medley of “Think,” “Respect” and Ray Charles’ “What I’d Say.”
