The Last Lincoln Assassination Witness

In the 1950s, CBS had a panel show called I’ve Got A Secret. The premise of this show was that a panel of celebrities had to guess the secret of a seemingly ordinary individual.  In February of 1956, 96-year-old Samuel J. Seymour appeared on the program as a witness to history: In 1865, a 5 year old Seymour went to Ford’s Theater with some family friends to see the play Our American Cousin, but little did young Sammy Seymour realize he would become witness to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. In fact, by 1956 he was the last living witness to the assassination. Check out the clip from the I’ve Got A Secret episode here and then head over to the Washington Times website to read more about Seymour’s recollection of that historic night in Ford’s Theater.
