The History of the Batmobile

The Batmobile may be the most famous fictional vehicle ever imagined. The Batmobile made its first appearance in 1941’s Detective Comics issue #48 and has gone through some changes over the ensuing seventy years. The folks at Autoblog have created graphic tracing the near complete history of the various Batmobiles that have appeared in print and on screen ranging from the red sports car that served as the first Batmobile to the more contemporary design influenced by the “tumbler” featured in Batman Begins. The graphic goes in to detail about such notable takes on the vehicle, like the one from the 1960s television show and Tim Burton’s take on the Batmobile from the 1989 movie, and in some cases the graphic reveals what real life car served as a model for that Batmobile variation.

Check out the whole graphic over at Autoblog.
